Xplane 11 C-175/7/2021
A high-wing, 4-engine, T-tailed military-transport aircraft, the multi-service C-17 can carry large equipment, supplies and troops directly to small airfields in harsh terrain anywhere in the world day or night. The massive, sturdy, long-haul aircraft tackles distance, destination and heavy, oversized payloads in unpredictable conditions.
It has delivered cargo in every worldwide operation since the 1990s. When I bought this plane at the org it said XP11 compatible, the org has cleverly omitted that now in requirements so they dont have to give your money back on a plane that doesnt work properly. Xplane 11 C-17 How To Convert ThisIs there any interest in having a solid explanation of how to convert this aircraft for full compatibility in X-Plane 11 Ive finally gotten the aircraft working at 100 and by the numbers, with a few tweaks to the, acf, panel, etc. Im confident that my customized flight model is now as close to reality as you can get with a C-17 in XP11. Before I spend time writing this up, a show of hands from those interested in getting the ac configured properly for XP11 would be great. John. Im interested The C-17 is awesome, and so is the KC-10 (hopefully there will be an updated version of both). Alright, sweet Thats enough people to make this worth my while haha My next day off is Monday (9 July), so Im gonna shoot to have a PDF ready to distribute for everyone by that evening. My method simply builds upon the groundwork put in by Andrew Brown (Screwbottle) so Im gonna try my best to incorporate what work hes already done. Theres only a few minor tweaks to the engine parameters right now but I hope to add a few other touches soon. As it sits, Ive replicated the figures released by Pratt Whitney and through my testing, Ive found the aircraft model to be rather receptive to the changes. One issue I had with the default model right off the bat was the lack of thrust during cruise climb. Even running balls to the wall, the ac could barely make 300-600fpm. Is there anything else you guys can think of that youd like to see fixedtweaked I can only do so much given the status of the model but Im all ears. I hope that at some point a talented user such as KK4SBS would contact the developer and through their cooperation allow at least a talented user modify the AC for XP11 and release it as v11 compatible. ![]() ![]() I contact Virtavia last year and they said that they have nothing to do with the XP11 versions as the conversion and maintenance is handled by Dawson Designs and were not interested in supporting the product at all. I also contacted Dawson Design and received no communication, so yea its left completly to the community to fix but only allow for fix-it walkthroughs like this potentially will be as we cannot distribute commercial products. Since the ACF is a text file, Ive thought about using a DiffMerge tool so I could distribute a file that contains only the changes I made, hoping that would abide by any copyright issues as you need to full product to apply the patch to. So you distribute a.txt file that can be converted to.acf file, problem solved. Their complete lack of interest and just plain disregard for the community while still taking money fom sales made at the org store makes them as they would say in Meet the Fockers holes.
